PROJECT: SAVING LIVES AT THE FRONT LINE

Oleg Dmitriev, chairman of Sunflower Scotland, donates van to frontline medics of 154h brigade, Kharkiv region

1. We are supporting hospitals in frontline areas including Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson.

2. Our team provides emergency first aid items to frontline medics:

  • medical evacuation teams
  • stabilisation points (frontline first aid outposts)

3. Sunflower donates evacuation vehicles and ambulances directly to frontline medics and help them to save lives.

How you can help:

  • For NHS and healthcare organisations: donate medical items (contact)
  • For private individuals: donate money to help us get there.

WORKSTREAM 1: SUPPORTING FRONTLINE HOSPITALS

Sunflower supports nine hospitals in Ukraine’s frontline areas: Kharkiv x 3, Vovchansk (approx. location), Chuhuiv, Sumy, Shakhtarske, Kryvyi Rih (Novopillya) and Kherson.

These cities are right at the front line. Both innocent civilians and Ukrainian soldiers receive terrible wounds from kamikaze drones, gliding bombs and ballistic missiles. Doctors and nurses are treating everybody: Hippocratic oath.

Sunflower works directly with doctors. They tell us exactly what they need. Every hospital has a different list of requirements.

We are currently collecting

  • Emergency (ambulance) first aid items
  • Defibrillators
  • Wheelchairs (priority: heavy duty, for big men)
  • Crutches
  • Adult nappies
  • Operating theatre / surgical consumables
  • Catheters
  • Bandages, absorption sheets
  • Stoma and drainage kits
  • Syringes, needles
  • Laryngoscopes
  • Patient gowns or men’s T-shirts – clean, 100% cotton
  • Power banks and mobile batteries

All items need to be in-date (Ukraine government directive forbids doctors to accept any out of date donations).

Contact to arrange drop-off (Oxgangs, Edinburgh) or collection by the Sunflower team.

Hospitals supported by Sunflower (8 hospitals, 1 rehabilitation centre, 1 dog search and rescue centre)

WORKSTREAM 2: FIRST AID TO FRONTLINE MEDICS

Sunflower works directly with frontline medics from a number of brigades (43rd, 154th, 129th, 46th, 34th and others). We believe that Ukrainian men should not die without medical help.

We provide:

  • First aid items used by the NHS ambulance service. For example: resuscitation masks, bandages, breathing tubes (i-Gel, OP tube etc).
  • Tourniquets and Israeli bandages for critical bleeding.

Our team delivers medical aid to:

  • medical evacuation teams
  • stabilisation points (frontline first aid outposts)

Examples of our work:

WORKSTREAM 3: EVACUATION VEHICLES AND AMBULANCES

Vehicles save lives. Both ambulances and 4×4 cars play their role.

Ambulances are used for med-evac. 4×4 cars help to bring the wounded to the medics over the hard terrain (case evac).

Imagine when several men have to carry their wounded comrade. Most likely, they will be attacked by the enemy’s FPV drones in several minutes. But even if they make it, by the time they reach the medic it may be too late. A 4×4 vehicle may be a life saver.

We deliver:

  • Ambulances
  • 4×4 vehicles (pickups, SUVs)

We make sure the vehicles reach exactly those who need them, and deliver them directly to the front. We don’t want our vehicles to end up on the black market.

We provide full transparency and reporting to our donors.

Examples of our work:
