25 November 2024 – Sunflower Scotland delivered medical items which will save lives at the front line in Kherson. Our delivery included 35 CAT tourniquets, two defibrillators and an EcoFlow mobile battery.
This October, Daria Golovchenko – a brilliant pianist from Kherson – stunned the Edinburgh audience with her musical performance. Thanks to Daria and the funds she helped to raise, we were able to buy medical items and fund a mission to deliver them to Kherson.
Kherson is separated from the Russian positions only by a 500-metre-wide river. Every day, this war-torn city is shelled by artillery and bombed by drones. Every day, frontline medics work tirelessly to save lives.
Sunflower delivered 35 Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) GEN 7 tourniquets with the total value of £1041. These are high-quality tourniquets (each costs £29.75) which were certified for the use in the US army. When someone is wounded, CAT tourniquet is best-practice device which may help to stop the critical bleeding, and save the person’s life. Amazon, eBay and Temu are flooded with cheap Chinese replicas, which may or may not work.
We delivered two defibrillators and a portable charging station EcoFlow Delta 2, so that the ambulance crew can resuscitate someone and re-charge their electric devices.
The Ecoflow Delta 2 station (costs £899) is a high-performance smart battery with a capacity of 1024 kWh. Since Russia destroys Ukraine’s energy grid, blackouts are very common. Medics can plug their critical appliances straight into the EcoFlow unit, and use it to provde medical care. As a result, they may be able to save someone’s life even, when the power is out.
