This April, Sunflower helped 199 orphans in 28 foster families. We delivered highly demanded hygiene supplies in Krasnokutsk, Kharkiv region. Each aid bag included 5 kg of washing powder, 3 bottles of hypoallergenic shampoo, 5 tubes of toothpaste, bathroom cleaning powder, and lots of other supplies.
Foster families do a very important job: they provide parental care, love and affection, and family environment to orphans. This was important before the war, but now – during the war – all children are traumatised. The role of foster parenting is hundred times more vital.
With small children, washing and cleaning never stops. Many “normal” families struggle with one or two kids, but imagine that you have seven children (or more) to look after! That’s exactly the situation with orphans. Out of 28 foster families we support, 16 care for seven children or more. Eight families have ten kids! These parents are real heroes.
Our selfless volunteer Vitaliy Grigorov did a fantastic job preparing and delivering the aid.
Washing and cleaning supplies are expensive. That’s why Sunflower Scotland decided to support foster families with this donation: it makes a big difference for the family budget. Each of the 28 families received a number of aid bags: one bag for 3 children (for example, 9 children = 3 bags).
Each set cost us 913 hryvnia (£20). All hygiene products were made in Ukraine by local small and medium enterprises. We sourced them locally, in order to support Ukrainian producers in this hard time. Here’s what was included in each bag:
- Washing powder “Frisk” (adult) 2.5 kg
- Washing powder “Dr Voks” (children’s hypoallergenic) 2.4 kg
- Cleaning fluid “Trim” 0.5 l
- Children’s dishwashing fluid “Uti-Puti” 0.6 l
- Toothpaste 125 ml x 2
- Toothpaste “Colbrait” 100 ml x 2
- Children’s Toothpaste “Dji – Komet” 50 g x 1
- Shampoo “Sabon” 1000 ml x 1
- Children’s shampoo “Bembi” 330 ml x 2
- Children’s shampoo “Patron dog” 250 ml x 1
- Cleaning powder “Naki” 500 g x 1
- WC cleaner “Deztri” 500 g x 1
Our cordial gratitude to Scottish donors your donations made real impact. Please support our work and donate, as you can see how your money works and supports the most vulnerable people in Ukraine.
