225th Assault Brigade has been protecting Kharkiv and east Ukraine and keeping people safe. Sunflower Scotland delivered a Nissan Navara pickup truck from Edinburgh, Scotland, all the way to east Kharkiv region. We gave it right in the hands of the 225th brigade. Before going to Ukraine, we fixed and serviced the vehicle, to make sure it can be used as quickly as possible. Before giving the truck to Ukraine’s defenders, we used it to deliver medical and food aid to people.
In addition, we transferred three camouflage nets crafted by Edinburgh Spiders, a very committed volunteer group. They work in the centre of Edinburgh and specialise in making high-quality nets.
It did not cost 225th Brigade anything. We donated the Nissan Navara and everything else completely for free. Every day, they sacrifice their lives and pay with their blood. We cannot take their money.
Supporting Ukraine’s heroes: from Edinburgh to east Kharkiv oblast
Sunflower Scotland is honoured to support 225th Assault Brigade ZSU: we know that this Nissan Navara from Scotland will help them to free Ukraine from occupation and bring peace. The 225th brigade are real heroes. They are one of the most efficient units in ZSU, and that’s why we know our help will be used well.
Edinburgh Spiders – an outstanding group of Scottish and Ukrainian volunteers – crafted 3 camouflage nets in Edinburgh. We handed these nets together with the vehicle.
The mission
This is how we executed our mission:
Fixing the vehicle
First, we repaired the Nissan Navara in Scotland (new clutch, flywheel, left spring, welding, brakes, prop shaft). We do not donate broken cars. The boys need a working vehicle, not a bag of problems.
Humanitarian objectives
Oleg Dmitriev (Sunflower’s Chairman) drove from Edinburgh, to transport medical equipment to
- from Astley Ainslie NHS hospital (Edinburgh) to Way to Health rehabilitation centre for war victims and veterans (Dnipro)
- aid by PHCAW (Ipswich) to the Pershotravensk hospital, Dnipropetrovsk oblast
We thank Yuri Dibrova and their charity “Patriot” for supporting us on the ground.
After that, Oleg and Vitaly Grigorov (our representative in Kharkiv) loaded the Navara with food aid. We carried food bags for the people of Vovchansk district. Very poor, old people. They are hit by CAB gliding bombs every day and need help.
And finally, we donated the truck to the 225th brigade.
As you can see, we at Sunflower Scotland use vehicles for several humanitarian purposes at once. It was a rather complicated mission with several objectives: we work hard, and we put our lives on the line.
Zero Cost to ZSU
Now, you all want to know: “How much did we charge?” We charged £0. Nil. Nada. ZSU are sacrificing their lives. It’s absolutely unacceptable to take money from them.
Conclusions
Do you like how we work? Do you share our values? Support us. Even £5 will help. We report everything, and take no money for ourselves: you can see how 100% of your donations help real people.
We need to bring a lot of medical aid to frontline Ukraine, and it’s a big job…. your donations matter.
