30 days ago the Sunflower Scotland team delivered eight gym machines, and helped to open a war trauma rehab “Patriot” in Pershotravensk (30 miles from the front).
We are proud to report to our Scottish donors that the rehab is already helping 10 women and men recovering from severe wounds and injuries (see photos). Nine men had bullet and shrapnel wounds, which they received while defending their homes, wives and children from the Russian aggression. The female patient is recovering from a very severe neurological trauma from a car accident.
We are sending words of respect to the Ukrainian MP Yuriy Dibrov for taking the initiative and organising the rehab from scratch. Our praise goes Vitaliy Oboronko, the coach and medal-winning Ukrainian athlete, who volunteered to run the rehab. He gives all his time to help people who need rehabilitation.
The reason why Yuri and Vitaliy had to volunteer to open the rehab is because the Ukraine government is overwhelmed. It’s only thanks to highly motivated volunteers like Vitaliy and Yuriy, Ukraine can deal with the tsunami of war trauma.
We would like to send our cordial thanks to all our donors: your donations are working and helping people.
Our next mission will be in June. Sunflower’s chairman Oleg Dmitriev and two volunteers team are going to east Ukraine to bring more aid to rehabs.
