Together with our Ukrainian partner charity “Shira Sprava”, Sunflower Scotland delivered 708 kg of humanitarian aid to the people of two villages in the north of the Kherson region: Fedorivka and Topolyne. They were heavily damaged by the war, many homes devastated, people injured or lost their lives. Those who remain really struggle.
Fedorivka and Topolyne are in the very north of the Kherson region. In February 2022, this became the edge of the russian occupation zone. As a result, for many months on end this area became a war zone, with shells going in both directions. The local residents lived through some of the most horrific months, in a continuous nightmare. The villages were finally liberated in September 2022, after six months in occupation. The damage and the loss of life was extraordinary.
Our friends from Shira Sprave suggested that we help these people, and we started working together on the project. Sunflower Scotland purchased aid in Ukraine, and sent it to Kryvyi Rih.

Shira Sprava prepared the aid bags, and drove to deliver them.

They visited both villages on the 12th November, 2023, and distributed the aid bags. The striking levels of poverty and struggle, which the local residents endure, became obvious to us all after the mission. Just look at the photos. They break our hearts.

Each aid bag contained:
- Pasta “Golden Field” 2 kg
- Bulgur wheat 1 kg
- Wheat flour 1 kg
- Semolina 1 kg
- Concentrated tomato paste 1 stick
- Sugar 1 kg
- Tea 20 bags
- Toilet Paper, 1 roll
- Soap, 1 bar
- Toothpaste, 1 tube
- Washing powder, 400 g
- Tinned meat, 525 g

Our friends from Shira Sprava handled the mission very quickly and efficiently. They are an wonderful team in Kryvyi Rih, very committed to helping others. Here’s a photo they took with residents of Topolyne on the day of delivery.
