24 November 2025 – Sunflower Scotland delivers medical aid to two hospitals in Kherson. Working in Kherson is extremely dangerous. The Russians army is committing war crimes hunting civilians on the streets with killer drones. Thousands of innocent people including children are suffering from this terror. Because of the danger, it is harder for them to get medical help. Medical supplies are very limited because NGOs are avoiding Kherson.

Sunflower Scotland brought three cars full of medical supplies to two Clinical Hospitals in Kherson: the Tropinyh hospital in the city centre, and the Luchanskogo hospital. Located in the Dniprovskiy district near the Dnipro river, the second hospital is considered more dangerous (the “red zone”).

Human Safari: dreadful war crimes in Kherson
Kherson is facing an extreme type of humanitarian catastrophe. The Russian army is using precision drones to track and kill people on the streets, committing a wave of war crimes against innocent civilians. This absolutely horrific situation in Kherson is often described as “human safari”. The map created by United24 is showing where people and medical first responders were wounded and killed.

65,000 civilians, including over 5000 children, live in the city. The state does not provide a full-scale evacuation assistance and financial support. Unfortunately, families in financial difficulty cannot afford to move to a safer part of Ukraine. European countries and the UK aren’t providing any help. As a result, the poorest and the most vulnerable people remain in the kill zone.

Brave and selfless helpers

We worked together with a local NGO “Strong and Free” based here in Kherson. Ihor, Dima and Rost are very brave and selfless people. Their main job is evacuating people from the kill zones near the river. In addition, they work as patient transport taking disabled people to see the doctor. They are providing a safe underground space for kids to study and play, and many other things.
The boys from “Strong and Free” helped us to navigate through the backstreets of Kherson and stay alive.
Delivery to hospitals
We delivered three cars fully loaded with medical supplies. We delivered aid to two hospitals: Kherson City Clinical Hospital (Tropinyh), Kherson City Clinical Hospital (Luchanskogo). We used three cars rather than one van because cars can drive faster, and they are smaller. Cars are simply more nimble targets.
Kherson City Clinical Hospital (Tropinyh)
We delivered a load of adult nappies, 20 pairs of crutches, dressings, splints, examination gloves, face masks and a box of prescription reading glasses.

Kherson City Clinical Hospital (Luchanskogo)
This hospital is very close to the Dnipro river (Dniprovskly district), and the area is in the “red zone”. The Russian invaders are constantly monitoring it and sending drone after drone to hunt cars and people. Anti-drone nets are

We delivered many boxes of catheters and urological supplies, as well as a couple of boxes of stoma bags.

Direct connection with doctors
Sunflower Scotland has a direct connection with doctors. Every time, before we go to a certain hospital, we ask them what they need.
Back in the UK, we look exactly for what they asked for. We ask NHS Scotland, NHS trusts, hospices and medical charities, and source what is necessary.
We don’t just “bring stuff” that’s not been requested, and may or may not be used by someone. By working directly with doctors we are providing what they are desperately asking for. Together with our donors, we are helping Ukrainian doctors to treat their patients and to save lives.
We thank our donors
We sincerely thank our medical donors for supporting the people of Kherson in this dreadful time. Your donations are very necessary, and they are already helping doctors.
- Jacob’s Well Appeal for loads of crutches, bandages, urology supplies, catheters, stoma supplies and reading glasses.
- NHS BRADFORD (special thanks to Roman Kroll) for donating adult nappies, urology supplies, catheters and stoma bags.
- NHS Lothian – for gloves and masks
- St Columba’s Hospice Care for dressings and high-calorie medical food
Our kindest gratitude to everyone who donated and supported us: you made this mission possible. Thank you!
