31 March 2026 – Sunflower Scotland donated a large Peugeot Boxer van for mobile infected wound surgery, to the medics of the 2nd Corps “Khartiya”, in Kharkiv.
In January 2026, when Oleg was driving back to Scotland, he received a call from Tyler (call sign) – a medic from Khartiya. Tayler asked if we could help them with a large van, which they could use as a mobile hospital.
Tyler explained that they have lots of cases of infected wounds. That instead of having a stationary surgery, which can be identified and destroyed, they decided to create a mobile unit.
Of course, we decided to help.
We sourced a large, ex-NHS patient transport van at an auciton in Wales. This Peugeot boxer van was clean, and in a reasonably good shape. We did an oil service, changed tyres, and prepared for the road to Ukraine.
This van helped us to bring A LOT of medical supplies to the Mechnykova Dnipro Regional Hospital. After Dnipro, we headed north to Kharkiv.
The medical team at Khartiya were absolutely thrilled to receive it.
