22nd March 2025 – Sunflower Scotland donated an ambulance and valuable medical devices directly to the medics of the 46th Assault Brigade, at the Donbas front. This ambulance is already helping and saving lives. We sincerely thank all our supporters and a big Scottish business that kindly helped us to buy the ambulance and fund the trip – your donations are absolutely critical and will save very many lives. We delivered the aid directly to those who need it despite the danger.

Donbas has been the hottest and the most brutal battle of the war. Ambulances, which carry wounded and bleeding people, get blown up by Russian drones and mines. Or simply break down due to wear and tear in extreme conditions, driving 24 x 7 on dirt roads, saving lives through day and night, rain and snow. When frontline medica of the 46th Assault brigade asked us to some medical supplies, we knew that they needed help.
Sunflower’s Edinburgh team reached out to everyone and many people from both Scotland and England donated money. A major Edinburgh finance company sent a cheque for the ambulance and supplies.
Wayne Pearson, our most wonderful supporter, donated a Stryker stretcher bed, and a specialist Welch Allyn monitor. This machine is used in ambulances to measure patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen level, and it costs many hundreds of pounds. In addition, Wayne donated to oxygen bottles and a full breathing kit with masks and tubes.

Oleg was able to buy an ambulance at an auction, and drove it back to Edinburgh. Here, our friends at R A Commercials – a garage in Penicuik – made a thorough inspection, serviced the vehicle and prepared it for the trip to Ukraine.
Michael and the team at Prehospital Care and Aid Worldwide (Ipswich) donated lots of ambulance gear and first aid items.
Finally, we set off from Edinburgh. After two days of driving, we reached the Ukraine border. Here, we did all the proper paperwork and the customs clearance, registering the ambulance (and other vehicles we had with us) as humanitarian aid.

After two more days, we reached Shakhtarske: a town on the edge of the Donbas region. We met with the medics of the 46th brigade, signed the and donated the ambulance to them, along with the medical supplies, absolutely for free.
The medics were really happy with the technical condition of the ambulance. And they were absolutely thrilled to receive all other medical devices and First Aid supplies which we brought.

Sunflower wants to thank the Civic Organisation “Patriot” from Shalkhtarske, especially Nadiya Razdobudko and Yurii Dibrova, for their wonderful support in Ukraine. We are delighted to work with them and stand together with the people of Ukraine, especially now in the most difficult moments.
