Skyrora: a Scottish aerospace business, donated 15 powerful Ecoflow Delta 2 lithium batteries to help orphans. Sunflower Scotland delivered them directly to 15 foster families with 110 orphans in the Kharkiv region.
In Kharkiv, it’s getting very cold: -5C .. -10C. Due to the power cuts, heating doesn’t work, and children suffer in cold.
We cannot help everyone, but decided to help as many orphans as we could. We chose 15 foster families in the Kharkiv region, which look after 110 children.
In Ukraine, it’s quite usual for foster families to host more than five orphans. Some may have as many as ten or even twelve children.
These orphans come from difficult backgrounds: alcoholism, domestic violence. Children are extremely traumatised, malnourished, often have mental disabilities. Foster parents do an extremely difficult job looking after them, giving care and love. The war has made their life painfully hard. And now, without power and heating, it’s even worse.
We brought 15 powerful Ecoflow Delta 2 lithium batteries, donated by Skyrora: a Scottish aerospace business. These £430 batteries can charge smartphones, laptops or rechargeable torches. But most importantly, an Ecoflow battery can power a gas boiler for up to 10 hours, and keep the heating on during the winter night.

We went through the countryside in the north Kharkiv region, visiting 15 foster families and giving them the Ecoflow batteries.

Of course, everyone was extremely happy. We finished late in the evening, and returned to Kharkiv, where I stayed in a hotel.
