Sunflower Scotland delivers powerful Ecoflow batteries donated by Skyrora to 15 foster families with 110 orphans in the Kharkiv region, 25 miles from the Russian forces.
In Kharkiv, it’s getting very cold: -5C .. -10C. Due to the power cuts across Ukraine, heating only works for 4-5 hours during the day. Children are suffering in cold.
Foster families are taking care of hundreds of children. In Ukraine, it’s quite usual for foster parents to host more than five orphans. Some may have as many as ten or even twelve children. We cannot help everyone, but decided to help as many orphans as we could. We had 15 batteries, and we chose 15 foster families in the Kharkiv region with 110 children.
We helped families only 25 miles from the border with Russia: the country that is sending gliding bombs, ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones to destroy civilian houses and terrorise innocent civilians.

These orphans come from difficult families: abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence. Children are extremely traumatised, malnourished, often have mental disabilities. Foster parents do an extremely difficult job looking after them, giving care and love. The war has made their life painfully hard. And now, without power and heating, it’s even worse.
Help by Skyrora: a Scottish business with big heart
Skyrora, a Scottish aerospace business, donated 15 powerful Ecoflow Delta 2 lithium batteries for the children. These £430 batteries can charge smartphones, laptops or rechargeable torches. But most importantly, an Ecoflow battery can power a gas boiler for up to 10 hours, and keep the heating on during the winter night.
We purchased the batteries here in Scotland, and drove via Europe and Ukraine to the Kharkiv region.
We went through the countryside, visiting 15 foster families one by one and giving them the Ecoflow batteries in their hands.
Of course, everyone was extremely happy. We finished late in the evening, and returned to Kharkiv, where our team stayed in a hotel.
