28 October 2026 – Sunflower Scotland delivers Ecoflow batteries donated by St Michael’s Church, Linlithgow, to 10 foster families with 44 orphans in north Kharkiv region. UK Army Cadets gifted them winter boxes with torches, power banks and vitamins.
Terror of darkness and cold
Ukraine has already started rationing electricity. When we were there, they had power for a few hours in the morning and in the evening. Russia already started its campaign of terror by cold and darkness. They were destroying Ukraine’s power grid with missiles and drones. Their aim is to make everyone in Ukraine suffer.
Children will suffer: when the temperatures drop to -20 – 25 C, they will catch the flu, develop pneumonia and other illnesses.
Help to 224 orphans

This is the second part of our campaign to support 224 orphans in foster care in Krasnokutsk, in the north part of Kharkiv region. This community is home to 28 foster families. Together, they take care of 224 children. Each family cares for several children. Typically 3-4, a few families have as many as 10 kids.
Most of the children have disabilities, chronic and genetic illnesses. All come from rough families: alcoholism, malnutrition, home violence. Foster parents are doing a really admirable work. They are giving the kids the love, attention and care which they never had. They are raising these children in proper families.

Last year we donated 18 batteries. This year we brought 10 more. This way we supported all families in the town, all 224 children.

Why Ecoflow batteries
It was going to be a really tough winter. The Ecoflow Delta 3 battery offers one big advantage. It can power a gas boiler for 5-6 hours. Its very smart and compatible with most gas boilers.
We tried used cheaper alternatives in the past, but they could not connect with some boiler models. For the last two years we have been buying exclusively Ecoflow.

When it gets really cold and dark, these batteries will keep homes warm. The Ecoflow can recharge in 45 minutes, which is very quick. Even if electricity is available for an hour, it will be enough to recharge.

This donation will be great help for the families.
Help from the UK and Spain
The Church of St Michael is the largest one in Linlithgow. It is a part of a larger congregation of four churches of Linlithgow and Avon Valley.
When we explained how the children were going to suffer this winter, the churches responded. The Minister organised a collection, and members of the congregation responded with generous donations. Together they raised well over £3,500: enough for seven batteries. One person from the church emailed us and paid for the eighth battery outright.
Fingers Crossed is a company in Barcelona. They are our long-term supporters, they are truly kind and generous. They donated money for three more batteries: two for the orphans, and one for the children’s centre in Kherson.
But that’s not all. UK Army Cadets prepared 12 winter boxes: each contained essential items for the winter: a tent torch, a power bank, and things to cheer the kids up: instant hot chocolate and multivitamins. Everyone was absolutely delighted!

The families – both the parents and the children – were sincerely grateful for support. They knew that without these batteries, their winter would me much much worse. Thank you so much!
The families were overwhelmed by the kindness of donors. Children understood that as well, because they already went through the previous winter of “cold terror”. In this small rural community, life is hard enough already. Without electricity and heat, it’s just too much.
The parents were giving us homemade preserves. At first we refused, but they insisted. At the end, we loaded them in the car and gave everything to the soldiers (we donated this car in the evening together with the jars of homemade food).
